Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol is president of the Gasol Foundation, a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission and an investor and advisor on projects linked to sports and wellbeing.

He started his sports career at FC Barcelona and in 2001 became the second Spanish player in the NBA and the first to win the Rookie of the Year Award with the Memphis Grizzlies.

A two-time NBA champion, six-time All Star, world champion and three-time Olympic medallist, Gasol has become a model and inspiration for many European players who aspire to compete in the world’s top basketball league.

Off court, he has shown his social commitment to children and health through his role as Global Champion for the UNICEF Children’s Nutrition and Ending Obesity programme, as well as being the creator of the Gasol Foundation with his brother Marc. This work has merited several recognitions, including the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports and Special Recognition by the NAOS Strategy Award.
